Emory & Henry College C/o 2018
Political Science(Pre-Law)/Civic Innovation - Double Major
For the future I plan to work closely with the forces back home to organize a new union at Emory that is pushing towards collaborating multiple organizations in hopes of building a strong alliance of students to constantly improve Emory as well as the surrounding community. If we can continue to try and work with the Joshua Project with hopes of seeing the program being a staple of the Emory & Henry community as well I would like to open the door for the program to grow in alliance with the college.
"When Chesterfield came out so strongly for Clinton on election night, Kidd says he knew Virginia would be hers even before the rest of the state results came in." "Of the Democrats’ improvement in the presidential race, Elizabeth Hardin, chair of the Chesterfield County Democratic Committee, says there were many factors, including their ground game and the quality of their candidate." (Griset, "Trump wins, but is Chesterfield turning blue?", 2016)
"Excluding Chesterfield, where the number of votes cast was more than four times the total number of votes in the rest of the area..." "Only in Chesterfield did Clinton perform more strongly than Obama, with 46.2 percent of the vote vs. 45.4 percent for Obama in 2012." (Barakat, "Clinton pulls out narrow victory in Virginia", 2016)
https://www.donaldmceachin.com After working heavily with Congressman McEachin on his campaign, I was offered an opportunity to work as a staffer this summer for his first term.

Big 3 Takeaways:
1. Everyone has value, being a great leader is about discovering and giving value to others.
2. To not fear evaluations, they don't have to be critical or personal.
3. The best way to build within a community is by building upon whatever resources are naturally there and all places and people have something to offer.
I want to continue to grow so I can use all that I have been lucky enough to acquire to work on behalf of those in need of it.
